II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
II Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the
scripture is of any private interpretation.
This is a class to help one to understand how God’s Word
interprets itself. It will assist one in
learning how to utilize the tools needed to understand how
God’s Word interprets itself.
The three most basic keys to the Word of God’s
interpretation are that it interprets itself in the
verse, in the context and where it has been used before.
We review these and other major foundational keys to the
Word’s interpretation. The most basic
key to understanding God’s Word is to read it and think
about it. Another simple key is prayer.
Pray for comprehension and for understanding when you sit
down to read or work it. Ask God to
enlightened your eyes.
In this class we will show how to use basic research
materials such as Scripture indexes,
concordances, interlinears, and lexicons so you can do word
studies and be able to check the
research that has already been done, before starting to work
the Word for yourself.
These four research tools, scripture index, concordance,
lexicon, interlinear, are the backbone
to help you to get started in research, and with these four
tools you’ll be able to do a lifetime of
research work on your own.
There are other research tools that are available as you
develop expertise and have a desire
to continue working God’s Word in greater detail. Tools like
Old Testament resources, Bible
dictionaries, Bible Atlas, English Bibles of various kinds,
books on manners and customs,
figures of speech book will all be discussed.
Finally we will study how to utilize Strong’s numbering
system to expedite your time as
workmen of God’s Word. We will see the advantages and
disadvantages to doing biblical
research via computers.
This can be a one day seminar or longer depending upon the
interest of the group.
