Before We Get Gathered
Number 107: May 1, 2007
When the fellowship was over we ate then headed down the mountain to the bus for another day’s drive. We were headed to Ram Singh’s home in Jayargarh. The early Indian leadership made a commitment to move God’s Word over India. In order to do this, they would need to move and live in different areas. Many of Ram Singh’s family lived in the town of Jayargarh. Since many of his family were believers attending the fellowships regularly, he moved there and built a house on their land. It was positioned next to a road for easy access, and with a short walk, one could bath in a clean river.
We were very tired when we arrived and many quickly fell asleep in the one large room that had been designated as our sleeping quarters for that evening. Others slept outside under the canopy where the fellowship would be held the next day. No fear of wild tigers or monkeys here.
In the morning, some of the Americans walked down to the river. When you get there you find a temple dedicated to a monkey god with a crazed monkey hopping around in it. The lady who lives and operates the temple had told Ram Singh that he smelled every time he came down to the river. Ram Singh knew it was a spiritual attack, so he told her that the river would always smell for her. She had a growth immediately start to grow on her face that obstructed her smelling.
Once again many saints journeyed from large distances to attend the fellowship. Vijay Singh said that he had left at 6:00 that morning in order to arrive on time. One gentleman said that he had walked for 21/2 hours, then took a bus for another 2 hours. A third shared that he had no money to take the bus but he wanted to attend. He gave the problem to God. He waited at the bus stop as 4 buses came and went. He couldn’t get on because he did not have any money. However, a friend of his drove up in a taxi and offered to take him to the fellowship free of charge.
Ezra 7:10:
For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statures and judgments.
This is the verse I shared at the fellowship. Many had prepared their hearts just to get there. They had thought through to the best of their abilities their travel plans, then allowed God to do the rest. It seemed that it was worth it as many told of witnessing the great power of God daily in their lives.
One of the great testimonials was told by a man who for years was paralyzed. He was sitting with his family when a poisonous snake slithered into the group. He saw it and asked God if he could protect his family. He reached down and grabbed a stick and killed the snake. All present were surprised and thankful for what the man had done. He is still totally delivered of his paralysis.
