Before We Get Gathered
Number 44: April 2, 2006
Opening Day! A brand new baseball season! Every team starts over with high
expectations and new hope. It’s time to see if the new acquisitions and the new
pitching can bring home new results. It marks the changing of the seasons, from
winter to spring. It is time for a new birth, a new growing season. It is time
to leave the winter nesting holes to enjoy newness of life.
Romans 12:1 and 2:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.
One of the great topics in God’s Word is “the renewed mind.” You cannot prove
the will of God until you have renewed your mind to the Word of God. As a living
sacrifice to God, you have the opportunity and the ability to change your mind
to think what God’s Word says.
We are to manifest a renewed mind, a “new in quality” mind; a mind that is
different from what it was formerly. We get a new mind by putting heavenly
thoughts into our mind. Then the quality of our lives takes on a new quality as
we walk in that brand new spiritual way.
Romans 6:4:
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was
raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk
in newness of life.
.
In order to walk with a new in quality mind, we have to chose to do so. The
newness in quality of our walk comes from the spirit. It gives us a spiritual
basis for walking with a new quality of life in Christ. Old things pass away and
all things become new in quality as we walk in Christ.
Romans 7:6:
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held;
that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
We are encouraged to serve others with a new quality, a manner in which we have
not served before. To renew our minds to act in this way, is evidence of the new
quality in our minds.
II Corinthians 5:17:
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature [creation]: old things
are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
As this new season unfolds, let us serve in newness of life. Let’s utilize our
new nature of Christ within to conform not to the things of this world, but
rather to prove what is good and well-pleasing to our heavenly Father. We do so
by putting on His thoughts and living them to the fullest. Play Ball!
