Before We Get Gathered
Number 76: October 16, 2006
Last Sunday we finished a seminar on “An Introduction to the Bible.” At the end
of the seminar the students were led into manifesting the gift of holy spirit by
speaking in tongues. Thus, they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are
going to heaven. They manifested the undeniable proof that they were born again
of incorruptible seed.
Many people who are born again of God’s Spirit do not properly understand this
manifestation of the spirit. Unfortunately many who do understand the operation
of the Spirit from God under-use or ignore this valuable spiritual resource.
Speaking in tongues is a sign to the individual that they are born again. It is
also a sign to uninstructed believers that the power of God is in operation.
Mark 16:17:
And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues.
I Corinthians 14:22a:
Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that
believe not…
It is proof that the individual has received an eternal life spirit from God,
just like the Apostles first did on the day of Pentecost and the Gentiles did at
the house of Cornelius.
Acts 2:4:
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 10:45-46a:
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came
with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the
Holy Ghost.
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God…
Speaking in tongues is a constant reminder that Christ by way of God’s power is
in you no matter what the circumstances are; temptation or trouble, bereavement
or sorrow, joy or thankfulness. God is always there with you, He will never
leave you or forsake you. It is a constant reminder that the overcoming power of
God is alive within you.
I John 4:4:
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he
that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Speaking in tongues is for all Christians. We should operate this power from God
all the time.
I Corinthians 14:5a:
I would that ye all spake with tongues…
