What is truth?
This is a question that has been deeply considered since the fall of man.
Jesus Christ and God’s Word are truth since they came from the God of truth.
John 14:6:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto
the Father, but by me.
John 17:17:
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Pontius Pilate was unknowing about the truth when he was confronted by Jesus
with it.
John 18:37 and 38a:
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou
sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into
the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the
truth heareth my voice.
Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?. ..
The ancient Greeks would entertain anyone who had something new to say, hoping
that they would discover it. The apostle Paul came to Athens and tried to
declare the truth unto them.
Acts 17:18,21,23:
Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered
him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a
setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the
resurrection.
(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in
nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this
inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him
declare I unto you.
Today many are still searching for the truth. It is up to us to declare unto
them the truth about who Jesus Christ really was and is. It is up to us to
rightly divide God’s Word and boldly declare it. God will back up His Truth, His
Word spoken on the lips of believing Christians.
Psalm 100:5:
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all
generations.
Psalm 86:11:
Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy
name.
