Before We Get Gathered
Number 81: November 3, 2006
The truth pertaining to things of God are worth seeking after.
Proverbs 23:23:
Buy [get, gain, acquire, possess, in any manner] the truth, and sell it not;
also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
Psalm 33:4:
For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
Some who profess to know and live the truth, have only a form of the truth, no
real substance.
II Timothy 3:5:
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Godliness is defined in E.W. Bullinger’s Critical Greek Lexicon as having a
real, true, vital, and spiritual relationship with God. We are to develop a
relationship with God based on the truth found in His Word. We are not to be
distracted by matters that take us away from His truth.
I Timothy 4:7 and 8:
But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto
godliness.
For bodily exercise profiteth little [for a little while]: but godliness is
profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that
which is to come.
Titus 1:14:
Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the
truth.
We are to continue to do whatever it takes to learn more of God’s truth, not
man’s fables. As we continue to apply God’s truths into our daily walk with Him,
our lives will become enriched and our fellowship with God will only grow more
vital and real.
Proverbs 12:17 and 19:
He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a
moment.
Psalm 25:10:
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and
his testimonies.
Let us bless our heavenly Father by continuing to walk in His truth.
III John 4:
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
