Before We Get Gathered

Number 97:  March 5, 2007

Tomorrow I leave for India with my youngest daughter. We will be gone for two weeks. We have been invited to visit the Christian fellowships in the foothills of the Himalayas along with 8 other American brethren. We will be visiting such great tourist attractions as Jogiana, Khandi, Ganshali, Jayargarth, and Poligarwahl. They are all small villages where the inhabitants have responded to the teachings concerning the one, true and all powerful God. Men and woman of India have been boldly teaching and demonstrating the power of the true God and thousands have been delivered from the clutches of the Adversary throughout all of India. We will witness this first hand by living in their villages and taking an active part in their Bible fellowships. The book of Acts is living and on full display. Daily many signs, miracles and wonders are occurring.

Acts 26:18:

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

As part of understanding the Bible, one must understand the Orientalisms, the manners and customs, of the people who lived in the culture where it was written. India is rich in this understanding. Bishop K. C. Pillai, a native from India who came to the Western world to teach “Light Through an Eastern Window” many years ago was able to teach many Biblical customs and mannerisms because they were still being practiced in India.

Max Müller, in his book, What Can India Teach Us, expresses this thought:

“…and in that study of the history of the human mind, in that study of ourselves, of our true selves, India occupies a place second to no other country. Whatever sphere of the human mind you may select for your special study, whether it be language, or religion, or mythology, or philosophy, whether it be laws or customs, primitive art or primitive science, everywhere, you have to go to India, whether you like it or not because some of the most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India, and in India alone.”

When we arrive back on Western Hemisphere soil, we will detail for you our experiences of God’s triumphal blessings on our spiritual brethren in a vastly different culture than ours. When we were in Egypt, we met friendly Christian believers who were enjoying God’s blessings and were prospering in what we would refer to as a third world country.

II Corinthians 2:14:

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

The true God of the Bible is no respecter of culture, times, or nations. He will take care of His people when and where they believe in Him and actively practice his Holy Word.
