DELIVERANCE AND CONTINUED DELIVERANCE

Exodus 14:13-31 Especially verse 13. Stand still and watch Me deliver you.

Joshua 1:1-9 Especially verse 2. Arise, go!

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Deliverance takes commitment. You will never get delivered with a weak mind. Don’t accept your weaknesses, beat them. Move with God. Whether it’s “I’ve done all I can, now it’s up to God.” Or “arise, go, move on the instruction I have given you.” Pray, talk to God, wait for further instruction or move ahead with what you have already received, do the will of God and expect deliverance.

II Chronicles 32:1-20

II Kings 19:1-20 I [God] have heard…He’s about to take action.

God is on our side. He will fight for His children.

Romans 8:31-39

Colossians 1:13 Who hath [past tense] delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son?

We’ve already been delivered from the Adversary’s best shot. We’ve already won the greatest victory – death to life. We have eternal life!

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

The Word of God lives in you. It is to remain with you. It dwells in you. The Word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.

abideth is meno [3306] - a bearing up under pressure, to remain, continue, abide, just “be there.”

I John 2:24 Let that therefore abide [abide 3306 meno] in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain [remain 3306] in you, ye also shall continue [continue 3306] in the Son, and in the Father.

Meno being used three times in one verse is one of the repletion figures of speech.

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. [endure under pressure]

If you can’t handle pressure you have no right to lead God’s people. You need to thrive on pressure. Have the mental ability to overcome; you have the spiritual ability. There are things that God’s Word exhorts us to continue to do:

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Continue in God’s Word. Does the Word of God abide, continue, remain in you?

John 15:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue [meno 3306 remain] ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide [3306] in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide [3306] in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain [3306] in you, and that your joy might be full.

Continue in God’s love by keeping the Father’s commandments; so that God’s joy may be fully manifested in your walk.

I Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue [1961 epimeno, upon remaining] in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Continue in doctrine, right believing; so others may be saved and you can collect rewards.

II Timothy 3:14 But continue [3306 meno] thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

Knowing it was God via the apostle Paul who taught you correctly.

Galatians 2:1-6

In verse 5: “that the truth of the gospel might continue [diameno 1265, by remaining] with you.”

The truth of the Gospel needs to be understood and abide in you, so you can be delivered from false brethren. You can recognize them.

Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

The early Church continued stedfastly [both words, one Greek word 4342 proskartereo] in the apostles’ doctrine, and fellowship, in spending time together, eating together, praying.

God’s Word moved, but in the individual lives first.

Acts 2:46 And they, continuing [4342] daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

They continued daily, likeminded, with gladness and with only one purpose, to move God’s Word, to do His will.

Acts 1:14 These all continued [4342 proskartereo] with one accord in prayer [“and supplication” - omit] with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Continue in one accord, with like-mindedness, in prayer.

Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually [4342] to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing [4342] instant in prayer;

Colossians 4:2 Continue [4342] in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

I Timothy 5:5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth [4357 prosmeno, remaining to] in supplications and prayers night and day.

Continue to pray. Prayer as the expression of need, supplication.

Luke 18:1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Pray, and don’t faint; don’t become discouraged. Just don’t give up, don’t quit.

Continue in prayers and supplications, specific requests, needs.

Acts 13:43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue [1961 epimeno, upon remaining] in the grace of God.

Continue in the grace of God. That’s how we got here in the first place.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue [1696 emmeno, remaining in, en] in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Continue in the faith. Keep believing God’s Word rightly divided. Perseverance. Persevere by believing God’s Word. It’s a state of mind. To hold fast, be true to, abide by, continue, to believe God’s Word. It does deliver.

Mark 5:35-36 Continue to believe the promise of God only, not circumstances, or fear.

Mark 5:37-43

Was mentally hanging in there, worth the effort? Was continuing to believe the promises of God worth the end result?

Is it worth our effort?

Hebrews 10:35-36, Hebrews 6:10-12

Acts 26:22  Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue [2476 histemi, stand] unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

Psalm 34:15-19, Psalm 91:1-10

 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Isaiah 41:10,13

Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

We are here to inspire people to trust God.

Now, after that parenthetical study, did God deliver Hezekiah? Can he? Yes? Did He?
